I have been struggling to get any photos published on this website as well as delivering any photos. Now I got all the August 2013 photos and most of September photos on the site.
Finally, I present to you, pictures from Wales! I was finally able to go to the legendary Royal Welsh Show and enjoyed it just as I thought I would. I mostly watched the Welsh sec. B classes and a bit of others. Unfortunately I missed the Welsh Mountain ponies pretty much altogether.
I was also able to do a stud visit during the trip to Wales. And if you are only able to do one visit, naturally the stud will be the famous Eyarth stud.
We received a warm welcome and the ponies were absolutely stunning. Thank you very much for this, Mrs. Jessie Parry and Mr. Joe Parry!
More updates! This update brings foal pictures from the Cloudberry stud, taken in the end of May, and photos from both the young pony welsh show and the welsh show.
My own pony Ruusa was at both shows, which limits the amount of ponies photographed. In the Welsh Show, I only photographed a very small portion of the young ponies, just a couple of classes with section C and the only part bred of the day.
On Sunday, which is the adults' and foals' day, I spent the entire day behind my camera so I should have a picture of each participant. For some reason a lot of the pictures have funny colours, my apologies for that.
At last, the pictures from pony stallion licencing.
This year, pony stallions were licenced in the end of May so the pictures are more summery than usual. I was at the show only on Friday the 19th and photographed most of the stallions present.
Even though I was there for the Welsh ponies and cobs, most of my photos present Shetland ponies as they were the biggest group once again.
Towards the evening, the light in the Ypäjä hall was quite amazing, which I found inspiring. I'm not sure if other people appreciate my "artistic" view but I had fun taking and editing these darkness - light pictures.
I have not updated this site for ages! In result, the equine photos page has new galleries with photos taken in the beginning of April to mid-May.
In the beginning of April I spent 2 days at the Tampere Horse fair. To me, the highlights of that event were "flying" Icelandic horses and a carriage driving show.
During spring there were a lot of foals born in my friends' studs so there are a lot of foal pictures both published now and still awaiting on my hard drive.
In May the weather was already summer-like so I managed to get some photos of beautiful white welsh mountain ponies in an evening sun. Modeling were Cloudberry Stud's wonderful stallion Moondelight Caradoc and his "fiancee" Wikners Celina.
Coming up is, besides more foal pictures, also photos from the pony stallion licensing event and the Young Pony Welsh Show. Unfortunately I don't have pictures of all the young Welshes as I also showed my own pony at this show.
I only visited the event on the last day as usual. All the horses that have gotten through their tests get their evaluations on the last day of the 5-day event, which was, asu usual, Saturday. Most of the stallions are at the event to get licenced to the Finnish Warm Blood stud book but also the Finnish Riding Pony candidates have to show up at this event, while the other ponies have their own stallion licencing event in April.
I basically went to Ypäjä, where the event always takes place, to photograph a Welsh Part Bred stallion, 3-year-old Fairytale Twilight, for the Finnish Welsh society. He was, in fact, accepted.
There were very few stallions presented this year so I mainly stayed at the riding hall to see and photograph their performances. I have to say the day was saved by the parade of a bunch of Finn horse stallions. I never really got into our national breed until a couple of years ago - and these stallions were some eye candy indeed.
There was also a dressage competition for young warmblood horses. I also watched and shot that.
To the pictures.
